A tragic accident occurred on Jalan Indarung, Lubuk Kilangan District, Padang City, West Sumatra, in the early hours of Wednesday (23/4/2025). A truck carrying palm oil (CPO) lost control and crashed into a house occupied by a family, causing two toddlers to die on the spot.
According to the Head of the Padang City BPBD Emergency and Logistics Division, Al Banna, the incident took place at around 01.54 WIB. The truck first hit a road divider, then hit a tree before finally hitting a resident’s house.
“There were four residents in the house. Two of them, Arab (5) and Khayla (2), died because they were hit by building debris. Meanwhile Yuliana (30) and Rafa (10) survived despite suffering injuries,” said Al Banna.
The CPO truck driver, Bisrendra Nardi (44), also suffered injuries and was immediately rushed to Semen Padang Hospital along with the survivors.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the police. Meanwhile, the BPBD team together with residents immediately evacuated victims, cut fallen trees, and cleaned up debris and spills on the road.
“Evacuation and cleaning are still ongoing to secure the area and restore road conditions,” concluded Al Banna.
