Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) Destroyed Due to Being Hit by a Truck in Semarang, Driver Taken to Hospital

An incident involving a truck hitting a pedestrian bridge (JPO) occurred in Semarang Regency. The truck driver was immediately taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Head of Semarang Police Traffic Unit, AKP Dwi Himawan Chandra, revealed that this incident occurred around 15.50 WIB on Jalan Raya Ungaran towards Bawen. This incident happened before the Christ the King Church in the Genuk Village area, West Ungaran District, Semarang Regency.

The truck with plate number N 9901 UA hit the stairs and foundation of a pedestrian bridge before finally stopping. “This single accident occurred because a truck hit a pedestrian bridge,” said Dwi when contacted by detikJateng on Monday (11/9/2023).

Dwi explained that the truck driver, Tedi (39 years), allegedly lost concentration when passing the scene. As a result of this incident, Tedi was immediately evacuated to the hospital because he experienced chest tightness. “The truck was on its way from Ungaran to Bawen, and it is suspected that the driver lacked concentration,” added Dwi.

Even though the driver was in relatively good condition, Tedi underwent further examination at the Regional Hospital. Head of the Semarang Police Traffic Unit Gakkum, Inspector Sutarto, confirmed that the truck was not carrying a load when the incident occurred.

After this incident, the police immediately coordinated with BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency), Dishub (Transportation Service), and PLN (State Electricity Company) because there was an electrical installation at the location. “The bridge tilts and the poles fall from the foundation. We have coordinated with BPBD, PLN, and Dishub to turn off the electricity and regulate traffic,” said Sutarto.

The truck was damaged at the front, while the bridge stairs were destroyed.

The truck involved in the accident has been successfully evacuated, and traffic congestion from Semarang to Bawen has begun to ease. However, there is still a traffic slowdown at that location. “Meanwhile, traffic is running normally, with only a slight traffic slowdown,” added Dwi Himawan.

Accident of a Container Truck Loaded with Sugar in Bumiayu, Driver Dies Due to Brake Failure

A single accident occurred on the Bumiayu South Ring Road (JLS), precisely at the T-junction before the old Bumiayu terminal, Brebes Regency. This accident is thought to have occurred due to a problem with the container truck’s brakes, which caused the truck to hit a road divider and three nearby shops.

This accident occurred on Sunday night (10/9) and resulted in the truck driver, Dani (29 years), a resident of Kampung Bojong RT 09 RW 02 Sanding Serang, Banten, dying at the scene.

The information obtained stated that the container truck with plate number B 9968 UEM was transporting granulated sugar from Cilacap to Jakarta. However, after getting off the Kretek flyover in Paguyangan District, the truck traveled at high speed from the south and suddenly overturned when turning right onto the southern ring road.

A resident named Sodikin said that the truck’s speed was very high, and perhaps the driver had difficulty controlling the vehicle when turning onto the ring road. The truck hit a road portal and rolled over after hitting a kiosk.

Sodikin described the roar as sounding like a bomb-like explosion. He was inside a stall when the incident happened, and when he came out, he saw the overturned truck crash into three stalls. The victim was then evacuated to a nearby hospital by police officers who came to the scene.

Officers from the Bumiayu Traffic Post came to the location to evacuate the victim to the Bumiayu Regional Hospital mortuary. This accident disrupted traffic flow in the area.

Head of the Brebes Police Traffic Unit Gakkum, Ipda Indra Prasetyo, confirmed the accident when contacted on Monday (11/09/23) morning. His party is currently investigating to determine the cause of the single accident on the Bumiayu South Ring Road.
