Deadly Accident on Cipali Toll Road, Freed and Elf’s Car Collision Causes 6 Injuries
A serious accident occurred at KM 164,400 Route B of the Cipali Toll Road, Majalengka Regency, West Java, on Friday (5/4/2024) at around 05.30 WIB. This tragic incident involved a Honda Freed car crashing into an Isuzu elf, allegedly because the car driver was tired and sleepy while driving.
Information from DetikJabar revealed that Freed’s car with license plate number B 73 WEE, driven by Sukmo Cahyo (44), was on its way from Jakarta to Cirebon at the same time as the Isuzu elf driven by Ali Sopyan (36).
“The two vehicles were traveling from Jakarta to Cirebon when the accident occurred,” said Police Commissioner Wibowo, West Java Police Traffic Director.
While at the scene, Freed’s car suddenly deviated and hit the right side of the Isuzu Elf which was carrying 15 passengers in it.
“It is estimated that the driver of the Freed car was tired and sleepy, so the car entered the median, and with lack of reflexes, hit the right side of the Isuzu Elf carrying 15 passengers and was pushed into the median,” he said.
This accident has been handled by the police. Police Commissioner Wibowo appealed to drivers to pay more attention to their travel conditions, and always obey traffic rules and advice from officers in the field.
“Don’t ignore signs of fatigue while driving. We recommend always obeying speed limits and prioritizing traffic safety,” he added.
According to Astra Tol Cipali Public Relations, Asri Fajarwati, this accident did not result in any fatalities, but 6 people suffered minor injuries. They have been rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
“Our officers have evacuated six lightly injured victims to Mitra Prapatan Hospital, Majalengka,” he said.
Asri also appealed to road users to always be alert and ensure the readiness of their vehicles and their physical condition before starting their journey. This is an important key to preventing accidents that can threaten the safety of yourself and others on the road.

A furniture warehouse on Jalan Daan Mogot, West Jakarta, was engulfed in flames while employees were breaking their fast
A major fire broke out in a 4-story furniture production warehouse on Jalan Daan Mogot, Cengkareng, West Jakarta on Wednesday (3/4/2024) evening. The sound of explosions was heard dozens of times from inside the warehouse, accompanying the rapidly burning flames.
The fire greedily consumed the warehouse, helped by the abundant amount of materials inside, which were flammable. Conditions became even more tense when the fire occurred in the middle of breaking the fast, at the same time as company employees were returning home from work. Panic set in as the fire quickly grew.
According to Yatimin, a building security officer, employee panic was inevitable. “We were breaking the fast after sunset, when there were children (employees) inside, they came out screaming, there was smoke, screaming in panic, it turned out that from behind there was a small smoke that was continuing to grow. I immediately took out all the cars so they wouldn’t catch fire,” he said.
In an effort to extinguish the fire, 21 fire trucks from the West Jakarta Fire Department involving 105 personnel worked hard. After two hours of fighting, firefighters finally managed to control the fire.
Although the exact cause of the fire is still not known for certain, it is strongly suspected to be caused by an electrical short circuit. The impact of this fire was not only felt in the warehouse, but also on the surrounding streets. The section of Daan Mogot road from Grogol to Cengkareng and vice versa was completely jammed, with traffic from Cengkareng even being diverted onto the busway to ease the congestion.

A tragic accident again hit the main route between Malang and Surabaya, precisely in Jatisari Hamlet, Purwodadi Village/District, Pasuruan Regency, East Java, on Thursday (4/4/2024) afternoon. Information gathered from Wartabromo at the scene indicated that this accident was thought to have been caused by a brake failure on one of the container truck vehicles which then hit another container truck in the same direction, as well as a motorbike traveling in the opposite direction. Tragically, one person died in this incident.
The victim who died in this accident was a Honda Vario motorbike rider with plate number N 5143 ECQ named Eko Rudi Sutrisno (49), who was a resident of Poncokusumo Malang.
The chronology of the incident began when a container truck with plate number L 9207 UU, driven by Slamet Riyadi (43), a resident of Bangkalan, Madura, experienced brake failure while driving from Malang to Surabaya. Residential House in Sukabumi Experiences Landslide Due to Heavy Rain
The heavy rain that hit Sukabumi since Wednesday (3/4/2024) night caused a number of areas to experience natural disasters, including runoff floods and landslides. The areas affected include Citamiang District with four points of runoff flooding, as well as Gunungpuyuh District which experienced landslides.
The team from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Sukabumi City Public Works and Spatial Planning Service (DPUTR) were still actively handling the disaster at 13.18 WIB, with several residents’ houses seen hanging above the flow of the Cibandung River.
One of the victims, Mira Kukun (48), a resident of Sriwidari, Gunungpuyuh District, Sukabumi City, experienced the direct impact of the disaster. Even though she lives in the Netherlands every day, Mira is returning to her hometown in Sukabumi. However, a surprise hit him when the back of his house collapsed due to heavy rain.
“Last night when it was raining heavily, suddenly there was a sound like a boom, we thought there was no vibration, we thought it was just thunder, oh that’s it. At around 23.00 WIB it was heard again, I thought it was still raining, thunder. In the morning when I looked outside “Eh, it turns out the wall is already in the river, it’s all collapsed, it’s already a landslide,” said Mira to detikJabar at the location.
After this incident, Mira and her family were forced to flee to a safer place. Even so, Mira is still waiting for a decision from her family in the Netherlands before informing them about this incident.
Head of the Sukabumi City BPBD Response Team, U Hermawan, explained that the estimated height of the landslide retaining wall (TPT) was around 7 meters. The disaster was caused by extreme weather and high intensity rain.
As a follow-up, BPBD will evacuate landslide material so as not to block the Cibandung River channel, while remaining alert to the potential for subsequent landslides. The authorities hope that the situation can be controlled and there will be no further victims as a result of this disaster.
