Because of the oil spill, the motorcyclist slipped and was killed by a truck in Matraman.

A motorcyclist died after becoming a victim of a traffic accident on Jalan Matraman, Kebon Manggis, Matraman, East Jakarta, on Monday night (5/6/2023). The spilled oil made the road slippery, causing the victim to slip and be hit by a passing garbage truck.

When the incident occurred, a garbage truck driver named Oki revealed he was driving a garbage truck with two other trucks. “The victim was quite far from the garbage truck. I was driving when I saw a motorbike rider fall on my left,” Oki said at the scene on Monday.

Oki admitted that he was unaware of the slippery road conditions due to the oil spill. He focused on driving the garbage truck. However, Oki’s colleague, Nono, admitted that there were many oil spills on the road then.

“There was an oil spill on the road. It was scattered in various places. Maybe the victim braked and slipped due to the spilled oil,” said Nono at the scene on Monday. Oki was surprised when he saw a motorist suddenly skidding on the left side of his truck.

“When the motorbike fell, the victim just slid. The motorbike fell on my left side, and the victim slid past my truck,” explained Oki. “I was focused on the bike, and suddenly someone was hit before me,” he added. Currently, the victim has been evacuated to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. The garbage truck drivers, including Oki, have been detained by the police for questioning.

The East Jakarta Mitigation and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency cleaned up the oil spill on the road because the accident occurred right before their office.

3 Workers at Barito Kuala Die Trapped in a Barge Hole

Three workers at Barito Kuala, South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan), were declared dead after falling into a barge hole. The incident occurred when the three victims were cleaning the ship, and one fell.

“It is known that one person accidentally fell into the barge through the main hole, then 2 of his friends wanted to help and fell, so there were 3 people on the barge,” said Barito Kuala Police Public Relations Head, AKP Abdul Malik, to detik.com on Saturday ( 3/6/2023).

This incident occurred on the TK EVE 101 barge, towed from Taboneo to Banjarmasin on Friday (2/6) at 13.40 WITA. The three workers who died had the initials AS (35), DL (25), and AM (35).

Initially, the barge was being moored at the Teras River, Tabunganen District, Barito Kuala. Meanwhile, the three victims and one surviving colleague were cleaning the ship.

“It is known that three victims and one survivor were cleaning the barge at that time,” he explained.

Abdul explained that from the results of the investigation and analysis of the TKP, it was found that the main hole cover was open, which caused the victim to fall.

“Early indications indicate that it was possible that the main hole cover at TK EVE 101 2019 was opened by one of the victims and then fell into the main hole. This can be seen from the position of the main hole, which has a lid and bolts scattered and has been opened,” he said.

Kasubdit Fasharkan Polairud Polda Kalsel, AKBP Iwan Wahyu Purnomo, stated that the three victims were successfully evacuated about 5 hours after the incident.

“At around 18.30 WITA, the Basarnas team evacuated the three victims from the barge’s main hole, and they were taken to Ulin Hospital in Banjarmasin,” said Iwan.

Regarding the cause of death of the three workers, it is suspected that the victim experienced a lack of oxygen while in the main hole.

“It’s possible they ran out of oxygen because the main hole under the barge is only intended for people using special equipment. However, to be sure, we still need to wait for a doctor’s opinion,” he added.
