Truck Loaded with Crude Oil Rolls Over in Indramayu, Disturbs Traffic
A truck loaded with crude oil had an accident on Jalan Gatot Subroto, Indramayu, on Saturday (28/12/2024) afternoon. This incident occurred after the truck’s front tire burst, causing the vehicle to swerve and hit the road median.
Although there were no fatalities, the truck driver suffered serious injuries to his head and hands. The victim was immediately rushed to the Indramayu Regional General Hospital (RSUD) to receive medical treatment.
According to the chronology compiled, the truck was traveling from Jatibarang towards the city center of Indramayu when the worn right front tire suddenly exploded. As a result, the truck lost control, hit the road median, and rolled across the middle of the road.
Head of the Indramayu Police Gakkum Unit, Inspector Nadhya P. Lenggo, who led the crime scene investigation (TKP) explained that the condition of the truck tires was the main cause of this accident. “The right front tire was thin and torn, so the vehicle swerved to the right and hit the road median,” he said at the scene.
Evacuating trucks blocking part of the road requires the assistance of a tow truck. During the evacuation process, traffic flow from Jatibarang to Indramayu City was disrupted, causing traffic jams around the accident site.
This incident is a reminder of the importance of checking the condition of vehicles, especially tires, to prevent similar incidents in the future. The police urge drivers of trucks and other heavy vehicles to be more careful and ensure that their vehicles are always in prime condition before traveling.

Tragic Accident on the Purwodadi-Kudus Route. Truck driver killed by his own truck
A fatal accident involving two trucks occurred on the Purwodadi-Kudus route, precisely in Wandankemiri Village, Klambu District, Grobogan Regency, on Sunday (29/12/2024). This incident claimed the life of Anton, a tronton truck driver, in tragic circumstances.
The victim reportedly died after being run over by the rear wheel of the tronton truck he was repairing. The incident began when a truck loaded with sand drove from Purwodadi at moderate speed. The sand truck driver is thought to have become sleepy and lost control and crashed into a parked trontoon truck due to a flat tire.
“Unfortunately, the tronton truck driver was changing the rear tire when his truck was hit by a sand truck from behind. As a result, the truck went backwards and the rear wheel ran over the victim’s body,” said Fatah, an eye witness at the scene.
After the incident, the victim’s body was immediately evacuated to a funeral home located not far from the accident site. Meanwhile, the sand truck driver has been detained by the police for further investigation.
This accident is a reminder of the importance of vigilance for drivers, especially when driving on dangerous routes. Police continue to investigate the exact cause of this accident, including the condition of the sand truck driver who is thought to be sleepy.
This tragic incident also highlights the importance of safety measures for truck drivers when carrying out roadside repairs, to avoid the risk of fatal accidents.

Jeju Air Plane Crash, South Korea. Plane Crashes After Bird Collision, Claiming 179 Lives
A major tragedy occurred on Sunday, December 29 2024, when a Jeju Air plane on the Bangkok-Muan route had a fatal accident at Muan International Airport, South Korea. This incident killed 179 people out of a total of 181 passengers and crew, making it one of the deadliest aviation accidents in the country’s history.
The twin-engine Boeing 737-800 landed upside down and skidded off the end of the runway before exploding into a large fireball. South Korea’s Ministry of Transport reported that only two crew members, a man and a woman, survived with moderate to serious injuries.
Accident Chronology
The plane took off from Bangkok, Thailand, and was scheduled to land in Muan at around 9 am. The control tower had warned pilots of the potential for bird strikes as they approached the runway. On the first landing attempt, the pilot reported a “mayday” emergency after the landing gear malfunctioned, allegedly due to a bird strike.
Video footage circulating shows the plane trying to land on its belly without landing gear. While taxiing on the runway, the plane lost control, hit navigation equipment, and finally hit the airport boundary wall. A huge explosion occurred, destroying almost the entire fuselage except the tail section.
“The remains of the plane’s tail are the only part that is still recognizable. The rest of the plane is completely destroyed,” Lee Jung-hyun, Muan fire chief, said at a press conference.
Factors Causing Accidents
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Initial estimates suggest that a bird strike was most likely the cause of the landing gear not working. However, aviation experts believe that other factors, such as weather conditions and pilot operational decisions, also need to be examined.
Several experts highlighted irregularities in the chronology of the incident. “Why did the plane go so fast when it landed? Why did the landing gear stay retracted? There are too many unanswered questions,” said Gregory Alegi, an international aviation expert.
Apart from that, several short messages sent by passengers to their families before the accident occurred are also of concern. One of the passengers reported a bird caught in the plane’s wing, adding to speculation that a bird collision was indeed the trigger for this accident.
The next step
South Korean aviation authorities together with an international investigation team are currently investigating the wreckage and analyzing black box data to determine the exact cause of the incident.
This tragedy is a strong warning for the aviation industry to increase preventive measures against bird collisions and ensure stricter emergency procedures in dealing with situations like this.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family and the people of South Korea are mourning a huge loss in this country’s aviation history.

Ferry Capsizes in South Korean Sea, Five People Missing and Two Saved
On Monday (30/12) evening, an 83 ton ferry capsized in waters southwest of South Korea, at around 18.35 local time in the Seosan area, about 100 kilometers from Seoul. The incident involved seven people on board the ship, with two passengers successfully rescued while five others are still reported missing.
Efforts to search for missing victims are hampered by very strong sea currents. Rescue teams worked hard at night, using boats and searchlights to search the crash area. Photos released by the Taean Coast Guard show the dedication of officers in carrying out rescue missions despite difficult conditions.
Even though the search continues, high tides make the evacuation process difficult. Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, with preliminary suspicions pointing to bad weather and a possible technical fault on the ship.
South Korea’s Acting President, Choi Sang-mok, emphasized the importance of deploying all available resources and personnel to ensure the success of search and rescue operations. He also emphasized the safety of rescue teams as a top priority, considering the dangerous sea conditions.
The families of the missing victims were seen waiting anxiously at the information center location, hoping that good news would come soon. They really hope that the rescuers can bring the victim home safely.
The search process will continue throughout the night, with additional equipment and expansion of the search area to increase the chances of finding the victims.

Russian Cargo Ship Ursa Major Sinks Due to Explosion, 2 Crew Missing
On Tuesday evening, December 24, 2024, the Russian cargo ship Ursa Major sank in the Mediterranean Sea after a large explosion destroyed her engine room. The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that two crew members were still missing, while 14 of the ship’s 16 crew members were rescued and taken to the port of Cartagena, Spain.
Ursa Major, which was on its way from St. Petersburg, Russia, bound for Vladivostok carrying two giant harbor cranes, last sent signals on Monday evening, December 23, while in waters between Algeria and Spain. The explosion that destroyed the ship’s engine room caused the ship to tilt and sink.
This ship, built in 2009, is owned by Oboronlogistika, a company linked to the Russian military. Meanwhile, the ship was once known by the name Sparta III it was also previously noted as carrying spare parts for new icebreakers. Although the ship was carrying empty containers and two harbor cranes on deck, the cause of the explosion in the engine room is not yet known.
Spanish rescue teams immediately responded by sending two ships and a helicopter to the scene, where they found life rafts in the water and the ship on its side. A Russian team also joined in to take over the rescue operation. Rescuers took the 14 surviving crew members to a Spanish port after bad weather worsened conditions at sea.
Although 14 people survived, two crew members are still missing. Russian and Spanish authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the sinking. The Russian embassy in Spain has also been involved in the investigation and is communicating with local authorities to further trace this incident.
