Gas Tank Explodes! Severe Fire at Tuban Soy Sauce Factory, 4 Workers Rushed to Hospital. Losses Reach Tens of Millions
A fire incident occurred at the Cap Laron Soy Sauce Factory located in Gedongombo Village, Semanding District, Tuban Regency, on Monday (16/9/2024). This fire caused four workers to be rushed to the Dr Koesma Tuban Regional General Hospital (RSUD) to receive medical treatment.
According to the Head of the Tuban Satpol PP and Fire Department (Damkar), Gunadi, the fire started when workers were cleaning an 8,000 liter capacity LPG gas tank using a compressor machine. The tank is empty when cleaned.
However, suddenly there was a spark accompanied by the sound of an explosion from inside the tank. Gunadi suspects that this fire was caused by an electrical short circuit in the compressor engine installation, which triggered a spark and caught the remaining gas in the tank.
“The fire most likely occurred due to an electrical short circuit in the compressor engine, which ultimately ignited the remaining gas,” explained Gunadi.
Firefighters immediately arrived at the location to extinguish the fire using a mixture of water and detergent, so that the fire was successfully suppressed before it spread further. Material losses resulting from this incident are estimated at IDR 50 million.
