Su-25 Fighter Jet Crashes in Primorsky Krai, Air Force Losses Are Getting Worse!
A Russian Su-25 fighter jet suffered a tragic accident while carrying out a training mission in the Primorsky Krai region, far eastern Russia, on Monday (24/3/2025). This incident adds to the long list of Russian military aircraft destroyed in recent times.
According to an official statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense, this accident is thought to have been caused by a technical failure. Luckily, the plane that crashed in an uninhabited area was not carrying ammunition, so it did not cause any casualties on the ground. The pilot also managed to save himself with an ejection seat and was immediately evacuated by the rescue team.
However, this event was a major blow to Russian air power, which since the invasion of Ukraine had continued to suffer heavy losses. Data from various sources states that since February 2022, Russia has lost around 10% of its total fleet in this war. Intelligence reports from Oryx noted that more than 120 Russian warplanes had been destroyed, while another 17 had sustained damage.
Not only that, a Mi-28 helicopter gunship also crashed in the Leningrad region some time ago, killing two pilots. Again, technical factors are said to be the main cause.
Meanwhile, Ukraine claims that Russia’s total losses in this war have reached more than 370 aircraft. However, both Russia and Ukraine are reluctant to reveal exact figures regarding their military losses.
