Accident at JPL 82 crossing, Sragen. Sancaka Train Hits Truck
An accident occurred at the JPL 82 railway crossing, located at KM 240+7, Masaran District, Sragen Regency, on Friday (10/1/2025) early morning. The incident involved the Sancaka Train (KA) and a large truck, resulting in injuries to the truck driver and passengers.
Masaran Police Chief, Inspector Samsudin, revealed that the accident occurred at around 01.00 WIB. “The incident took place at the railway crossing in Dukuh Mojo Asri RT 01 Gebang Village, Masaran District,” he said when confirmed by the media.
Injured Victims
According to Samsudin’s statement, there were two people in the truck when the accident occurred. The driver suffered serious injuries, while the passenger only suffered minor injuries. Currently, both of them have been rushed to Sragen Regional Hospital to receive further treatment.
“The victim driver suffered serious injuries, while the passenger only had minor injuries. The identities of both are still unknown,” he added. Based on a report from PMI Sragen Regency, the driver suffered serious injuries to the head, stomach, hands and feet. Meanwhile, the truck passenger suffered minor injuries to his elbow, waist and thigh.
Fast Handling from Daop 6 Yogyakarta
Public Relations Manager for Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Krisbiyantoro, explained that the Sancaka train was on its way to Yogyakarta. He ensured that all train passengers, drivers and other officers were in a safe condition without suffering any injuries.
“We immediately moved quickly after the incident. There were no casualties on the train, either passengers or crew,” said Krisbiyantoro in a written statement.
The process of evacuating the truck experienced problems, where initial attempts to lift the vehicle failed three times because the lifting cable broke. To speed up the evacuation, the truck’s load was finally unloaded before the vehicle could be towed from the rail line.
“The train line returned to operation at 02.27 WIB after officers succeeded in removing the truck head from the tracks. This process took around 1 hour 38 minutes,” he explained.
Apology and Service Commitment
Krisbiyantoro apologized for the disturbance caused by the incident. Several train trips, including KA Sancaka (101F), experienced delays.
“We apologize to customers for this inconvenience. Maximum efforts have been made to minimize the impact on train travel schedules,” he said.

Oil Tank Truck Overturned on Tuban Ringroad
Traffic accidents occurred again in the Tuban area, precisely on the Ringroad Road in Kowang Village, Semanding District. A tanker truck loaded with oil overturned after colliding with a trontoon truck on Tuesday (14/1/2025).
The incident started when the tanker truck, which was about to turn right to go east, collided with a tow truck traveling from west to east. This incident was revealed by Eko Sulistiono, one of the officers at the scene.
“The tanker truck was trying to turn back to the east when it collided with a trontoon truck driven by Tugi Aziz Saputra (23), a resident from Cilacap,” said Eko Sulistiono when giving a statement.
Conditions and Handling at the Location
As a result of the accident, the tanker truck rolled over on the road, causing its load to spill and resulting in traffic jams around the location. Officers were immediately deployed to direct traffic and evacuate the vehicles involved.
“We immediately took steps to evacuate the truck and clean up the oil spill to prevent the risk of fire or further accidents,” added Eko.
Short Chronology
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred due to lack of alertness on the part of the tanker truck driver when he was about to turn. A truck traveling at medium speed from the opposite direction cannot avoid a collision.
Safety Advisory
This accident is a reminder for drivers of large vehicles to always be careful, especially when maneuvering on busy highways. Drivers are advised to ensure that the traffic situation is safe before turning or turning around.
“We urge all drivers, especially heavy vehicle drivers, to increase vigilance, especially at accident-prone points,” stressed Eko.

Large Fire Burns Raffia Rope Factory in Jombang
A major fire broke out at a raffia rope factory in Mojongapit Village, Jombang District/Regency, on Monday morning (13 January 2025). At least eight fleets were deployed to the location, consisting of four fire trucks (PMK) and four water tank trucks, to extinguish the blaze.
Chronology of Events
Agung (40), a local resident, revealed that the fire started in the front raffia production area at around 06.30 WIB. Flammable plastic materials accelerate the spread of fire throughout the factory area.
“According to factory employees, the fire was thought to have been started by a raffia rope production machine which was being heated but was left unattended. When I arrived, the fire had already spread,” said Agung to journalists at the scene.
Thick black smoke rose high from the fire site, triggering concern among local residents. The factory’s location in a densely populated area makes extinguishing efforts a top priority to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings.
Extinguishing Efforts
Four PMK trucks and four water tankers worked non-stop to control the situation. Officers from the Jombang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) worked hard in the field to extinguish the fire which was still burning until 09.00 WIB.
“We hope that the fire can be controlled immediately so that it does not spread to surrounding settlements. This location is very densely populated and is also surrounded by other factories,” said Acting Chief Executive of BPBD Jombang, Wiku Birawa F Diaz.
Causes and Impact
Wiku explained that the burned area was a place where plastic waste was processed into raffia rope, so the materials in it were very flammable. “This is a production location that uses a lot of plastic materials, so the fire spread quickly,” he said.
Even though this fire caused significant material loss, Wiku confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident. “Thankfully, there were no casualties. The losses were only material,” he stressed.

Great Fire in Los Angeles, Thousands of Houses Destroyed and Dozens of Lives Lost
Since Wednesday (January 8, 2025), devastating fires have hit the Los Angeles area, destroying around 1,000 luxury homes and claiming the lives of at least 24 people. Strong winds were the main trigger for the spread of the fire which quickly engulfed elite residential areas in Pacific Palisades, an area known as the residence of Hollywood celebrities. This tragedy also forced around 70,000 residents to flee, leaving their homes and businesses.
Fire Management Challenges
Anthony Marrone, Los Angeles County Fire Chief, said that this situation was a big challenge for the firefighting team. “We are trying our best, but the number of fire personnel in Los Angeles is not sufficient to handle a disaster of this scale,” he told media. Efforts to extinguish it continue, even though the fire has burned more than 16,000 hectares, including the Altadena area north of Los Angeles.
According to an LA Times report, damage spread to main streets and suburbs, with homes flattened. During the week the fire lasted, the total area burned reached around 108 square kilometers, almost the same as the area of the city of San Francisco.
The Role of Climate Change
Experts say that climate change is one of the factors that worsens this disaster. Extreme weather patterns resulting from human activities exacerbate the intensity of forest fires. Santa Ana winds, which blow from east to west, also speed up the spread of the fire. “What happened in the last 24 hours is something we have never experienced before,” said Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell.
Loss of Celebrities and Locals
A number of Hollywood celebrities were also affected by this fire. Mandy Moore, Cary Elwes, and Paris Hilton were among those who suffered major losses. Billy Crystal’s family, who had lived in their home for 45 years, lost their residence. “We raised our children and grandchildren here. This house is full of irreplaceable memories and love,” Crystal’s family said in their statement.
Dylan Vincent, a local resident, also told of his sadness when he returned to his house which was now nothing but rubble. “It’s a strange feeling to see a place that was once full of life now reduced to nothingness,” he said. In the Palisades Village area, various public facilities such as libraries, grocery stores and boutiques now only remain in ruins.

A tragic accident involving a small plane operated by Pacifica Travel occurred in the rural area of Urrao, Antioquia, northwestern Colombia. This incident killed 10 people on board the plane. This information was confirmed by the authorities on Friday (10 January 2025).
Lost Contact Before Accident
The plane, which was en route from Jurado to Medellin, reportedly lost contact on Wednesday (8 January 2025). The plane was carrying two crew members and eight passengers. Unfortunately, after an intensive search, it was discovered that none of the passengers or crew survived this accident.
Obstacles in the Evacuation Process
According to Carlos Rios Puerta, Director of the Antioquia Risk Management Department, bad weather is the main challenge in the process of evacuating victims and aircraft debris. This means that the rescue team can only access the accident site via land without helicopter support.
“Tragically, there were no survivors from this accident. “We have deployed 37 personnel at the location to speed up the second phase of our mission, namely the recovery of bodies and coordination with the judicial police,” said Carlos Rios Puerta in his statement.
He also added that his party continues to strive to ensure that the entire evacuation process is carried out quickly and efficiently, despite facing many challenges in the field.
Pacifica Travel Response and Victim Family Support
Pacifica Travel, the aircraft operator, expressed its deep sorrow over this incident. They are committed to providing full support to the families of the victims, including meeting the needs that have arisen as a result of this tragedy. In addition, the Colombian Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority also expressed their condolences to the families of the victims who had been waiting for news at Medellin airport.
Accident Cause Investigation
Colombian civil aviation authorities have started an investigation to uncover the cause of this crash. Meanwhile, authorities are working to complete the recovery process with high efficiency, although terrain and weather conditions pose major challenges.
Impact and Lessons from This Incident
This tragedy is a reminder of the importance of aviation safety measures, especially in difficult weather conditions. Support for the victim’s family and transparency in the investigation are things that the public hopes for to prevent similar incidents from recurring in the future.
This incident left deep sorrow for all parties involved, and is a reflection of the need for improvements in risk management and aviation safety in Colombia.

After the incident, the joint SAR team immediately searched for the missing victims.
