3 Workers Killed in the Rokan Block Waste Tub, PT PPLI Becomes a Suspect

Merdeka.com – The Riau Provincial Government’s Manpower and Transmigration Office has named PT Prasadha Pamunah Waste Industry (PPLI), a subcontractor of PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) as a suspect. The determination was due to the incident where three of the company’s workers died in a container containing waste oil from the Rokan Block.

“After conducting a case related to the death of 3 workers, it was decided that the suspect was PT PPLI,” said Head of the Riau Manpower and Transmigration Office Imron Rosyadi Monday (27/2).

Imron explained investigators from the PPNS Disnaker, together with the Riau Police PPNS Korwas today, examined three witnesses. The three witnesses being examined were from the ranks of PT PPLI.

“Investigators took statements from witnesses from PT PPLI employees. The three witnesses included ” Project Manager Hari Ramadi, Evaporator Operator Joni, and Banir Process Engineer Ridwan Lubis,” explained Imron.

After examining witnesses, investigators conducted a case title at 14.30 WIB between the Riau Police PPNS Supervisory Committee and PPNS Disnakertrans. The case was raised from that case title to investigate and determine the suspect as a corporation.

“Then, from the degree results, it was concluded that handling the work-lacking case could proceed to the investigation stage,” he said.

However, investigators still need further examinations to determine individual suspects or officials who are responsible. Several witnesses must be examined to establish a competent official as a suspect in a work accident.

“We are still seeing the extent of the role of each of these parties. Meanwhile, currently, the Project Manager (Hari Ramadi) has reported the status, we are continuing to investigate this, and PPLI is the suspect,” continued Imron.

The Operation Process at the National Police Hospital is Complete. Here’s the Current Condition of the Jambi Police Chief and Adjutant

He explained that many alleged violations occurred at PT PPLI, such as lacking personal protective equipment (PPE). This caused a work accident at the site.

“There is no PPE. There are no signs; people can walk into a narrow room. Moreover, it’s a waste room. They also have to wear body harnesses. There should be standards if you want to evacuate people. There are SOPs,” he said

Previously, an accident in the Rokan Block work area, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) in Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau, killed three workers Friday (24/2). They are employees of PT Prasadha Pamunah Waste Industry (PPLI), a subcontractor of PT PHR.

Public Relations & Legal Manager of PT Prasadha Pamunah Waste Industry (PPLI) Arum Tri Pusposari said that his party was investigating the work accidents of its members.

“Based on CCTV monitoring, it seems that there is an effort by workers to help each other without thinking about the risks involved,” Arum said when confirmed by merdeka.com.

Arum emphasized that the death of the three workers was also a record and evaluation of PPLI as a partner of PT PHR. He asked his workers to comply with the set SOP.

“This incident has become material for serious internal evaluation and is a valuable provision for our human resources to follow the predetermined SOPs strictly,” said Arum.

Ship Sinking in Coral in Southern Italy, More Than 30 Migrants Killed

ROME – More than 30 people have died, and at least 40 others survived a migrant boat accident in southern Italy, a spokesman for the Italian fire service said on Sunday (26/2/2023).

The shipwreck occurred near Steccato di Cutro, a seaside resort on the east coast of Calabria, the region that forms the tip of Italy.

“The death toll “has exceeded 30,” Danilo Maida, spokesman for the fire service in Calabria, told Reuters. He added that the figure was the result of a provisional calculation.

Firefighters and other emergency services were searching for more survivors at sea on jet skis, but conditions were harsh, making the search difficult, he added.

The Italian news agency ANSA reported that 27 bodies were found on the beach, and more bodies were seen at sea.

“This is a great tragedy which demonstrates the absolute need to act decisively against illegal migration channels,” Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said in a statement.

“It is “important” to stop sea crossings which, offering migrants a ‘mirage of illusions about a better life’ in Europe, enrich smugglers and “cause tragedies like today’s,” he added.

On their official Telegram channel, firefighters said they had found 28 bodies and indicated that the migrant boat had run aground on the beach.

The Adnkronos news agency said that more than 100 people were on board, while AGI, another Italian news agency, said a baby and several children were among the dead.

The boat, which was carrying migrants from Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, hit a reef during bad sea weather, Adnkronos said.

The Italian coast guard, reportedly at the scene with firefighters and other police forces, could not be reached for comment.

Italy is one of the main landing points for migrants trying to enter Europe by sea. The so-called central Mediterranean route is known to be one of the most dangerous in the world.

According to the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Missing Migrants Project, 20,333 people have died or gone missing in the central Mediterranean since 2014.

55 Flooded Villages, Karawang Set Emergency Response Status

Karawang – Several areas in Karawang Regency were flooded. As of Monday (27/2/2023), it was recorded that 55 villages spread across 18 districts had been flooded.

“I saw the latest report that there were 55 villages and sub-districts consisting of 18 sub-districts in Karawang which were flooded. This certainly dominates, of the 30 total sub-districts in Karawang, from the northern, eastern, central urban areas to the southern areas, there were floods,” said Deputy Karawang Regent Aep Saepulloh, when interviewed at the Dawuan post, Cikampek, Karawang Regency, Tuesday (28/2/2023).

He said the high intensity of rain caused the flooding. In addition, the river flow can no longer accommodate the high water discharge.

“We see that there will be floods in 2020, 2021, and 2022 but not as bad as this, for the reasons themselves, apart from the rainwater discharge, which is quite high. Our river flow and irrigation cannot accommodate it,” he said.

Aep said his party, as the government, had also encouraged the Citarum River Basin Center (BBWS) to make efforts to control water.

“We have also encouraged BBWS to build a dam. Alhamdulillah, in the north, Situ Kamojing was made as a dam, and work on the Sypon in the west has started to control the Cibeet River,” said Aep.

Even now, the Karawang Regency Government has declared an emergency response status for seven days. “Based on the results of our meeting yesterday with Forkopimda, the Regent has determined that Karawang has a disaster emergency response (flood) status,” said Aep.

Meanwhile, Karawang Police Chief AKBP Wirdhanto Hadicaksono said his party had established humanitarian operations in several flood-affected areas.

“We jointly formed a humanitarian operation, went directly to the field to help ease the burden on the people affected by the floods by preparing Natural Disaster Posts,” said Wirdhanto, when met in Karangligar, Karawang, Tuesday (28/2/2023).

Wirdhanto said, based on the assessment of the Karawang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), which was collected over two days, several areas were flooded.

“Based on the latest update on Monday (27/2) at 18.00 WIB, 11,485 were recorded as submerged, 8 of which were moderately damaged, 46 houses were lightly damaged, and seven were heavily damaged,” he said.

Not only that, but the flood also affected thousands of people who had to flee. According to the updated data, said Wirdhanto, there were 65,527 victims, one of whom was missing, and another was injured.

Seeing the data, his party emphasized that they had formed a humanitarian operation by establishing a disaster emergency post with various activities.

“This special post was set up for a shared kitchen. We provide food for the victims who cannot cook or make a living. In addition, he explained that we alert health and trauma healing workers at each post to restore the psychology of child flood victims,” he explained.

In addition to what was done by the policewomen at the disaster post established by the police, other police personnel was also ordered to focus on evacuating the community, as well as the community’s valuable assets.

“Of course, from Sunday, we have been on standby. I also took part in evacuating residents directly. After their souls were evacuated, the personnel also evacuated residents’ valuables such as vehicles,” said Wirdhanto.

This, said Wirdhanto, was carried out simultaneously in each Polsek whose area was affected by the floods and was assisted by the nearest Polsek, “The point is that everyone has to work. What is mandatory is a post that must be established in each affected area. There is also a shared kitchen in that post, and I order an evacuation, health workers, and psychological recovery,” he said.

Landslide Closes Main Route in Subang

Subang – A landslide disaster hit Subang Regency. One of the main routes in the area had to be temporarily closed due to landslides.

Specifically, the landslide occurred on the Cirangkong-Cijambe route in Kampung Aul Banjaran Hilir, Cirangkong Village, Cijambe District, Subang Regency, West Java. This landslide disaster occurred on Monday (27/2/2023) at around 10.00 WIB.

Subang BPBD Chief Executive Udin Jazudin said the landslide material that closed the road was caused by the intensity of heavy rains that have flushed the area since Sunday (26/2) yesterday. Not only that, but unstable soil contours are also one of the causes of landslides.

“The reason is indeed heavy rain with high intensity and unstable soil contours in the area,” said Udin when contacted by detikJabar.

According to Udin, besides the ground, there were also fallen trees blocking the road, so for the time being, it was still impassable for two- or four-wheeled riders.

“The fallen tree that closed access to the material road and landslides also closed the access road so that two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles could not pass through it,” he said.

There were no fatalities due to the landslide and fallen tree natural disaster. The joint officers are still carrying out quick handling so that the vehicle’s path can return to normal. However, to remain careful, BPBD appealed to people who wanted to cross the Cirangkong-Cijambe route. This is because the area is prone to landslides.

“No casualties. The BPBD team is still cleaning up landslides and fallen trees. I urge the public to be careful when driving because the weather has been bad lately,” said Udin.

Seconds of a Container Truck-Motorcycle Falling from a Flyover Near the Port of Semarang

Solo – A container truck and motorcycle were involved in an accident on Jalan Yos Sudarso Semarang, causing them to fall from a flyover. Police reveal the seconds of the accident.

Head of Subunit II of the Semarang Police Traffic Unit, Ipda Agus Trihandoko, said the accident occurred Monday (27/2/2023) at 11.15 WIB. At that time, the two vehicles involved in the accident traveled in the same direction.

“The trailer truck was driving from the west direction from Kalibanteng to Kaligawe,” he said at the scene.

Then, after passing in front of Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang, the container truck wanted to overtake the vehicle in front of it from the left. Allegedly due to weather conditions, the truck finally skidded.

“It is suspected that when overtaking from the left, the vehicle in front of the truck skidded. It was raining heavily at that time, so the driver could not control the speed of his vehicle,” he explained.

The truck then struck a motorcycle that was in the same lane. Both vehicles eventually fell from the flyover descent.

“The two-wheeled rider suffered a leg injury and was taken to Kariadi Hospital,” he continued.

Meanwhile, officers are trying to evacuate the stuck truck on the flyover. Agus ensured that neither the accident nor the evacuation would cause Jalan Yos Sudarso to get stuck.

“This is in the middle of an evacuation. The traffic flow is smooth,” he said.
