Drug Distributor Warehouse in Cawang Fires, Cause Unknown
On Tuesday (11/7/2023) morning at 05.33 WIB, a fire occurred at a drug distributor warehouse on Jalan MT Haryono, Cawang, Kramatjati, East Jakarta. According to East Jakarta, Gulkarmat Sub-agency Head of Ops, Gatot Sulaeman, the cause of the fire has yet to be discovered. The burned area is estimated at around 800 square meters.
Gatot explained that the provisional chronology of the incident was obtained from the testimony of a witness who worked as a warehouse security guard. That morning, five people were in the warehouse area, including a security guard and the head of the warehouse named Andi (37). At around 05.33 WIB, security officers heard an alarm inside the warehouse. After checking, they found a fire in the warehouse containing raw materials for making medicine. The smoke is also quite thick.
The East Jakarta Fire Department was immediately summoned to the location and extinguished the fire. During the extinguishing process, firefighters used blowers to reduce the warehouse’s smoke density. The thick smoke penetrated the roof gaps and soared high into the sky. Some firefighters even have to wear unique masks and carry oxygen cylinders.
The fire was controlled, so it didn’t spread to other areas. However, this fire caused an injury, namely the head of the warehouse named Andi. Andi suffered burns to his hands and feet when he tried to extinguish the fire. Even though he was injured, Andi remained conscious and received treatment from health workers. Losses from the fire are estimated to be around Rp 20 billion.
To deal with this fire, the East Jakarta Damkar Sub-Department deployed 13 units of fire trucks and 65 personnel. The process of extinguishing, controlling fire, and cooling was carried out from 05.42 WIB to 09.07 WIB. Currently, the blackout status is complete, and the area is safe.

The Goods Elevator that Dropped in Bandar Lampung Was Small in Size When the Accident Was Riding 9 People
KOMPAS.com – On Wednesday (5/7/2023), an elevator accident occurred at the Az Zahra Integrated Islamic School (IT), Bandar Lampung, Lampung, killing seven people and injuring two victims. The victims were construction workers.
This tragic incident occurred when the nine victims took the elevator from the fifth floor. Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bandar Lampung Police, Kompol Dennis Arya Putra, stated that the accident allegedly occurred because the lift was overloaded. “Nine people took the elevator, so it was overloaded and caused an accident,” he said. However, the elevator the victim was using was designed to transport goods, not people.
The Dirreskrimum Polda Lampung, Kombes Reynold Hutagalung, explained that the elevator was small. “The elevator is not significant. So if nine people enter, it will feel cramped. The elevator also has a set maximum capacity.
In addition, this elevator is designed to transport goods, not people,” he said. The police are investigating whether there was a criminal element in the elevator accident at the Az Zahra School. They will examine the possibility of work negligence which can be categorized as a criminal act.
Kombes Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, Head of Public Relations of the Lampung Police, explained that eight people had been questioned regarding the incident. “Eight people are being investigated, including security officers, the chairman of the foundation, and the school administrator,” he said.
One of the questions posed during the inspection was whether or not there was an order to use the freight elevator to transport workers. The elevator used has a space of only about 150 centimeters x 150 centimeters but is filled by nine people. This is being investigated to see if there was an order to use the freight elevator, given that there are also lifts intended for transporting people.
The head of SD Az Zahra, Iqbal Hafidz Hakim, said that the sports area’s renovation on the school’s fifth floor was carried out as a wholesale contract. “This work was carried out through a wholesale contract, not a tender process, and has been going on since March. However, regarding the vendors involved, I do not have any information. The contractor also carries out supervision of work,” he explained.

The connecting bridge in Central Maluku was broken due to the brunt of the floods
One bridge in Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province, was reportedly broken due to the flood that hit on Sunday (9/7) evening. The bridge named Kawanua, with a length of 480 meters, was damaged for about two stretches or about 150 meters due to hefty flooding.
The Chief Executive of the Central Maluku Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Abdul Latif Key, explained that the floods occurred after several days of high-intensity rains that hit the area. “Until now, the area around the river is still impassable for the public, both transportation users and pedestrians,” said Abdul Latif by telephone on Tuesday (11/7).
The Kawanua Bridge is the primary access for residents from Tehoru District, Central Maluku Regency, to Siwalalat District, East Seram Regency. As a result of the breaking of this bridge, access to Trans Pulau Seram temporarily had to be passed by sea. BPBD Central Maluku Regency coordinates with related parties to carry out emergency management. Still, bad weather at the location is an obstacle to repairing the Kawanua Bridge.
Apart from the Kawanua Bridge, the Wai Tonetana Bridge in Waipia was also damaged. However, currently, BPJN has managed to deal with the damage by carrying out repairs at the end of the bridge. As a result, two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicle traffic can usually pass.
The Operations Control Center for the National Disaster Management Agency (Pusdalops BNPB) reported that the flood affected 56 houses in Holo Village, Amahai District, with 257 people affected. However, until now, there have been no reports of displaced residents or casualties due to this incident.
According to the weather forecast from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) for the next three days (13/7), the Central Maluku region still has the potential for light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning. In dealing with this, BNPB appealed to the community and local governments to increase preparedness and vigilance for potential hydrometeorological disasters.
The community can carry out early preparedness preparations to anticipate risks that may arise due to hydrometeorological disasters. This includes setting up community-based temporary evacuation sites, carrying out independent and effective evacuations if the rain continues for more than 1 hour and visibility is less than 150 meters, and contacting officials if they cannot evacuate to get help with the evacuation process.
