Bogor Earthquake Shocks, 77 Houses Damaged and Bogor Regency Government Plans to Relocate Victims

The 4.0 magnitude earthquake that hit Bogor on Friday (8/12/2023) not only shocked residents, but also left serious impacts on a number of buildings in the area.

A total of 77 houses in Pamijahan, Bogor Regency, suffered significant damage due to the earthquake which was centered 25 kilometers southwest of Bogor City. The Regent of Bogor, Iwan Setiawan, stated that 77 heads of families with a total of 260 people were affected. The damage involved 52 houses with light damage, 18 houses with moderate damage and 7 houses with heavy damage.

Regent Iwan Setiawan together with Acting. West Java Governor Bey Triadi Machmudin has carried out a direct inspection of the affected areas, especially in Purwabakti Village, Pamijahan District on Saturday (9/12/2023). During the visit, assistance in the form of basic commodities such as eggs, rice and cooking oil, as well as velbeds for temporary beds, was provided to the earthquake victims.

Apart from basic material assistance, the Bogor district government also provided infrastructure assistance such as bathrooms and toilets for affected residents. Iwan Setiawan expressed his commitment to facilitate all residents affected by this disaster by providing nutritious food and other assistance.

In dealing with this situation, the Bogor Regency Government is planning the relocation of the victims. This was proposed because most of the residents affected by the disaster live on land that has PTPN HGU status. Iwan Setiawan expressed his thoughts on providing relocation options to the affected residents, and if they agree, the Bogor Regency Government will prepare land in the Cigudeg area.

Even though the earthquake did not claim any lives, the Bogor Regency Government plans to declare a disaster emergency status. This decision was taken to optimize handling of disaster victims through Unexpected Assistance (BTT).

Huge Fire at Chicken Farm, 30,000 Roasted Chickens Die in Grobogan. Loss Up to 1.5 M

A severe fire disaster struck a chicken farm in Bandungharjo Village, Toroh District, Grobogan Regency, Central Java on Sunday night (10/12/2023). The fire claimed the lives of 30,000 chickens and burned down the entire laying hen cage belonging to Margono (41), a resident of Bandungharjo Village. This information was first conveyed by the Toroh Police Chief, AKP Saptono Widyo.

The fire was first detected by local residents at 22.30 WIB. The plume of smoke and flames that rose high from the western part of the chicken coop shocked several witnesses. At the time of the incident, two chicken coop workers were resting after completing their task of feeding the chickens.

“Immediately after seeing the fire, several residents shouted for help and informed the two cage workers who were asleep,” said Saptono by telephone on Monday (11/12/2023). Even though residents tried to extinguish the fire manually, the enlarging flames were difficult to control. The incident was then reported to the Toroh Police and forwarded to the Grobogan Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

Two fire brigade units were immediately deployed to extinguish the raging fire. Even though efforts were made to extinguish it for approximately two hours, the 5,000 square meter chicken coop with a light steel frame and bamboo floor was still burned down. Luckily, there were no casualties in this incident, although material losses were estimated at IDR 1.5 billion. Currently, preliminary suspicions indicate the possibility of a short circuit as the cause of the fire.

The perpetrator of the robbery of money worth IDR 225 million and gold weighing 300 grams turned out to be a member of the police

A horrendous robbery incident occurred in Sorong City, Southwest Papua, when a police officer, Aipda Junaidin (44), was suspected of being involved in the robbery of Rp. 225 million worth of cash and 300 grams of gold. This incident had a big and surprising impact, because the perpetrators who were supposed to be maintaining security were instead involved in criminal acts that shocked the residents of Sorong.

The perpetrator, Aipda Junaidin, was successfully arrested by the Makassar Police Jatanras team in the Losari Beach area, Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Saturday (9/12) at around 01.00 WIT. This arrest was the result of the team’s hard work which succeeded in tracing the whereabouts of the perpetrator to another city.

According to the Head of the Sorong City Police Jatanras Unit, Ipda Wahyu Wira Kusuma, Aipda Junaidin fled to Makassar after carrying out a robbery in Sorong. The team managed to find him at Cafe Popsa, Losari, Makassar, and immediately detained him for further interrogation.

During interrogation, Aipda Junaidin admitted to his actions which occurred on Jalan Malinda KPR Police, Km 10, Sorong City, on Saturday (2/12). In this action, the perpetrator managed to steal money worth Rp. 225 million and gold weighing 300 grams. The courage of the perpetrator, who is actually a law enforcer, is an irony in itself.

Based on the victim’s report, whose identity was not revealed, the incident began when the victim returned home after taking his wife for treatment. To the victim’s surprise, the side door of the house and his room had been opened by the perpetrator. The proceeds of the robbery involved cash and gold which were very valuable to the victim.

The police team initially received clues from the victim’s report and carried out an intensive investigation using CCTV footage around the incident location. As a result, the perpetrator was identified who turned out to be a member of the National Police, Aipda Junaidin.

During its development, the team succeeded in monitoring the perpetrator’s movements and learned that Aipda Junaidin had left Sorong City with the aim of Makassar, South Sulawesi. The team’s success in arresting the perpetrator brings hope to bring this case to the right legal channels and provide justice to the victim.

This incident is also an important reminder that criminal acts do not look at a person’s professional background or position. All parties, including police officers, must continue to uphold integrity and obey the law in order to create a safe and orderly society.

Pickup Car Loaded with Sandals Swerved and Hit a Tree, Driver Was Squashed in Cabin

A dramatic accident occurred in Lamongan on Monday (11/12/2023), when a pickup truck loaded with sandals driven by Setiawan Rudi Iswanto, a resident of Sukodadi, Lamongan, swerved and hit a tree on the edge of the Lamongan-Babat national axis road. This accident left the driver trapped in the car cabin, but the evacuation was dramatic and the driver was finally rescued.

The pickup car with plate number AE 3292 SJ driven by Setiawan, swerved and zigzagged uncontrollably before finally crashing into a tree in Karangtinggil Village, Babat District. Rizki (45), a witness, said that the truck loaded with sandals was moving from Babat towards Sukodadi. When it swerved, the driver was seen trying to control the vehicle at high speed.

“At that time, the pickup seemed to be going fast and swerved,” said Rizki. The driver was unable to control the steering wheel, so the car left the road and stopped after hitting a large tree on the side of the road.

When the car hit a tree, the driver was pinned inside the pickup cab. Local residents and police officers immediately provided assistance, and after several attempts, the victim was successfully evacuated and taken to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment. The victim suffered serious injuries to the head.

Responding to this incident, the Head of the Lamongan Police Traffic Unit Gakkum, Ipda Hadi Siswanto, stated that this accident was isolated and was thought to have been caused by high speed so that the driver lost control, ultimately hitting a tree on the shoulder of the road.
