The dogolan type vessel measuring around 90–100 Gross Tonnage (GT) was known to use a bag net, and when the incident occurred, it was in the middle of a row of other fishing vessels.
An Explosion Was Heard Before the Fire Grew

It takes 3 hours to tame the fire
The firefighting effort involved four fire trucks from Tegal City and Brebes Regency. The fire was extinguished around 1:30 p.m. WIB (Western Indonesian Time), after more than three hours of battling the blaze amidst the crowded port.
