TruckMeInstant RolloverEast JavaImmediately Looted by Residents, Driver Flees Leaving Tens of Millions Worth of Goods!
A single accident that occurred on the Palembang-Betung East Cross-Island Route (Jalintim), precisely in Suka Mulya Village, Betung District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, turned into a mass looting event! The incident that took place on Sunday (18/5/2025) went viral after an amateur video showed residents flocking to loot a load of instant noodles from an overturned truck.
In footage widely circulated on social media, residents are seen guiltlessly taking boxes of instant noodles from a truck that has fallen to the side of the road. Some of them even immediately fled on motorbikes, carrying their loot. The person recording the video sounds frustrated, reprimanding the looters who continue to carry out their actions openly.
The green truck that was the target of the looting did not even have a license plate, raising suspicions of a violation or an attempt to avoid identification.
Banyuasin Police Traffic Unit Chief AKP Suwandi confirmed the incident. He explained that the residents only stopped looting after police officers arrived at the scene. “As soon as our officers arrived, the residents immediately dispersed. The truck had a single accident and the driver fled who knows where. Because no one was guarding, the residents felt free to take items from the truck,” he said.
Unfortunately, even though the police had appealed to residents to return the stolen goods, the appeal was ignored. Some residents chose to flee with their stolen instant noodles.
After the crime scene investigation and truck evacuation were carried out, the police contacted the company that owned the goods. According to the company, the truck was delivering instant noodles from Jambi to Palembang. The owner of the goods claimed not to know that their truck had an accident, let alone been looted by residents.
Until now, the police are still investigating the driver’s whereabouts and preparing legal steps for this looting incident.

Massive Fire Erupts Rubber Factory in Padang. Residents Evacuated Emergency
A major fire that hit a rubber factory in the By Pass area, Padang City, West Sumatra, forced at least six heads of families or around22 souls to evacuate in an emergency by the Padang City BPBD.
This disaster occurred at 12 noon and continued to rage until midnight with no signs of extinguishing.Thick plumes of smoke And towering flames forcing residents who live just a few meters from the factory location to leave their homes.
“The distance between the residents’ houses and the factory is only about one meter. For safety, we evacuated them to refugee tents,” said the Head of Padang BPBD,Hendri Zulviton, Sunday night.
BPBD set up two emergency tents in RT 2 RW 4 Batuang Taba Village, Lubuk Begalung Nan XX District. The first tent was occupied by 4 families (17 people), while the second tent was occupied by 2 families (6 people). The evacuation situation was conducive even though residents were seen anxious and tired.
Meanwhile, more than 20 fire engines deployed to the location, but extinguishing efforts encountered serious obstacles.
“The pile of rubber inside the factory is very thick. Even though it has been doused, it can ignite again. This condition is very difficult for us,” explained the Head of the Padang Fire Department, Budi Payan.
What’s more surprising, the factory does not have a hydrant system or internal water sources. As a result, fire trucks had to go back and forth to find water elsewhere, slowing down the process of extinguishing the fire that was still burning when this news was published.
This incident has attracted the attention of Padang City residents, especially because of the potential spreading fire to the surrounding dense settlements. Until now, the exact cause of the fire is unknown, and there has been no official statement from the factory.
Residents are asked to remain vigilant, and authorities continue to guard the location to prevent aftershocks.
