PETI Worker Tragically Dies in the Middle of Swamp and Forest in East Singkawang
Illegal gold mining activities (PETI) have claimed another victim. A worker named Hermanto was reported to have died in a tragic work accident in an illegal mining area located in the Mantoman Air Hitam area, Jalan Senggang, Mayasopa Village, East Singkawang District, on Thursday (5/6/2025) at around 11.00 WIB.
This sad news was confirmed by the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Singkawang Police, AKP Deddi Sitepu, on Sunday (8/6). He said that when the police team visited the location, no mining activities were found. However, several workers’ huts were found and immediately dismantled and burned by the authorities.
