Over the past week, a series of accidents and fires have rocked various regions across Indonesia—from a tour bus’s brake failure on the Gandulan Toll Road to a house and shop fire in East Lombok. This phenomenon reiterates the importance of risk management awareness and proper insurance protection for individuals, businesses, and transportation operators. Without adequate protection, a single unexpected event can have severe and lasting financial impacts.
Brake Blow on the Gandulan Toll Road! Group Tourism Bus NudistSemarang Overturns, Killing 4 and Injuring Dozens
A single-vehicle accident involved a tour bus carrying the Bendan Ngisor Village Health Forum (FKK) group in Semarang City on the Gandulan Toll exit in Pemalang Regency on Saturday (October 25, 2025). The tragic incident killed four people and injured dozens more.
According to the Head of Traffic at Pemalang Police, AKP Arief Wiranto, the bus carrying a total of 34 people consisting of 31 passengers and three crew members overturned after the driver failed to control the vehicle when turning off the toll road.
“Four people died, one suffered serious injuries, 13 suffered minor injuries, and 16 survived,” Arief said. The victims are currently receiving treatment at Siaga Medika Hospital, Al Ikhlas Islamic Hospital, and Prima Medika Islamic Hospital in Pemalang.
Initial suspicions indicate that the accident was caused by a technical issue with the braking system. This is supported by the statement of the tour leader, Riyan, who said the driver had complained of brake failure before the bus lost control and overturned onto the right side of the road.
“The driver said his brakes were loose and couldn’t brake. The bus hit the divider and the window shattered. I was thrown out,” he said.
The police are still conducting an in-depth investigation with the assistance of the Traffic Accident Analysis team from the Central Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The Head of the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat), Asril Rizal, explained that a report of the fire was received at around 12:30 a.m. WIB from a resident named Novan. Initial suspicions indicate the fire originated from an electrical short circuit in the engine of the 2011 car.

A cardboard warehouse in Bandung was completely destroyed by fire. The fire was only extinguished after 14 hours, causing losses of billions of rupiah.
A massive fire engulfed CV Surya Buana’s cardboard warehouse in the Babakan Ciparay area of Bandung City, West Java, early Saturday (October 25, 2025). The blaze engulfed two warehouse buildings and two parked cars.
The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. WIB at Jalan Cibolerang No. 34, North Margahayu Village. Panicked residents, seeing the growing fire, immediately reported the incident to the Bandung City Fire and Rescue Department (Diskar PB).
Fifteen fire trucks were deployed to extinguish the blaze, which spread rapidly due to the flammability of the cardboard. Firefighters battled through the afternoon, finally extinguishing the fire around 5:30 p.m. WIB (Western Indonesian Time) after a lengthy cooling process.
“The fire was completely brought under control after more than 14 hours of extinguishing efforts,” said Leon, Head of the Fire and Rescue Department of the Bandung City Fire and Rescue Agency.

An electrical short circuit destroyed a house and a shop in East Lombok, causing losses of up to Rp1 billion.
A house and building materials shop belonging to Zainal Abidin, S.Pd., in Teko Daya Hamlet, Teko Village, Pringgabaya District, East Lombok Regency, was destroyed by fire on Saturday afternoon (October 25, 2025). The fire is strongly suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit and caused material losses of approximately Rp1 billion.
According to Sofiyan Hadi, Head of Rescue and Evacuation at the East Lombok Fire and Rescue Agency, the first report was received from residents around 1:46 p.m. WITA. A firefighting team from the Pringgabaya Post was immediately dispatched to the location with one vehicle and six personnel, followed by additional assistance in the form of three fire trucks and 13 personnel from the Fire and Rescue Agency Headquarters.
Officers arrived at the scene around 2:15 p.m. WITA and immediately began extinguishing and cooling the affected area. The fire was fully under control by 4:10 p.m. WITA.
“There were no fatalities or injuries in this incident, but most of the building and the contents of the shop were burned down,” explained Sofiyan.
Initial investigations indicate that the fire originated from an electrical short circuit in one part of the house, which then spread quickly to the shop due to the presence of many flammable materials.
Sofiyan urged the public to be more alert to the potential for electrical short circuits, especially in businesses with high electrical loads.
“Ensure safe electrical installations, use SNI standard cables, and avoid overlapping connections that could trigger fires,” he stressed.
