Truck carrying a crane crashes into a roadblock on the Bawen toll road, the front of the crane is damaged
A single accident occurred on the Semarang-Solo route, precisely at the Bawen Toll Exit intersection, Semarang Regency, Monday evening (9/9/2024). A heavy crane vehicle hit the road separator that separates the main lane from the entrance to the Bawen toll road.
According to observations until noon, the crane was still at the location, while several workers were busy repairing the front of the crane which was damaged due to hitting a road divider. Traffic around the Bawen Terminal experiences congestion due to the narrowing of the road, because the crane position takes up one lane, leaving only two lanes for other vehicles.
A resident and eyewitness, Sigit (40), said the accident occurred at around 23.46 WIB. According to him, the crane driver admitted that the vehicle’s brakes suddenly didn’t work when passing down a downhill road before a red light. “The driver was smart, he chose to swerve to the left to avoid the container truck and motorbike that stopped in front of him. Finally, the crane hit the road divider,” said Sigit.
Luckily, there were no casualties or other vehicles involved in the incident. The crane driver managed to save many lives with his quick response.

Great Fire at Post Bloc. Three explosions heard, Al Abror Mosque burnt down. Losses Reach 2 Billion Rupiah
A large fire occurred in the area behind Pos Bloc, Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta, in the early hours of Tuesday (10/9/2024). This incident caused damage to the kitchen of a coffee shop and spread to the Al Abror Mosque, which is located next to the Pos Bloc Building. The witness said that three explosions were heard from the scene.
Even though the severe fire triggered panic, PT Pos Indonesia ensured that goods delivery operations were not disrupted. “The goods delivery process continues to run smoothly because the processing building is in a different location,” said PT Pos Indonesia Corporate Secretary and ESG, Tata Sugiarta.
This fire is thought to have been caused by an electrical short circuit in the freezer section of a coffee shop, which then spread to the gas cylinder and caused an explosion. According to Asril Rizal, Head of the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department, the fire quickly grew and burned an area of one thousand square meters. Losses are estimated at IDR 2 billion.
A total of 14 fire engines with 56 personnel were deployed to extinguish the fire. Although there were no fatalities or serious injuries in this incident, the Al Abror Mosque could temporarily not be used for five daily prayers due to extensive damage.
Security officers tried to extinguish the fire with a light extinguisher (APAR), but the flames were too big. The extinguishing process lasted for more than 30 minutes and entered the cooling stage at 01.33 WIB.
PT Pos Indonesia emphasized that even though the fire occurred, delivery operational services continued to function normally. “The delivery of goods was not affected because the location of the fire was not in the processing area,” explained Tata Sugiarta.

Great Fire at Alok Market Burns 10 Business Places
A major fire hit Alok Market, Sikka, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Tuesday night (10/9/2024). A total of 10 business buildings, consisting of five kiosks, three stalls and two barbershops, were burnt down in the incident which occurred at around 20.15 WITA.
According to information from the Head of PIDM Public Relations of the Sikka Police, Ipda Yermi Soludale, the fire is thought to have started at a kiosk selling retail Pertalite. The stall owner, AT, was copying Pertalite from a jerry can to a bottle while smoking. Unexpectedly, the fire caught the Pertalite which was being poured, causing the bottle to fall and triggering a fire that grew bigger.
Indahyani, one of the victims who was in her stall when the fire started, immediately heard screams of fire and saw flames blazing from a row of stalls next to her stall. She and her husband panicked and immediately rushed to save themselves from the location.
Efforts to extinguish the fire by the traders were unsuccessful, because the stall buildings were made of flammable materials. The fire quickly spread to other buildings, destroying all the surrounding businesses.
The fire brigade only succeeded in taming the fire at around 23.30 WITA with the help of a fleet of firefighters, two water cannon vehicles from the Sikka Police, and five water tankers. Luckily, there were no casualties in this incident, but the losses are estimated to be quite large.

Fishing Boat Sunk after Collision with Tanker: 3 Crew Members Safe, 2 Still Missing
The Kencana Jaya motor ship had an accident in Beting Eka Waters, Java Sea, on Tuesday evening (10/9/2024), after being hit by a tanker. This incident left three crew members (ABK) adrift at sea, while two others are still missing.
Head of the Pangkalpinang SAR Office, I Made Oka Astawa, reported that the SAR team managed to pick up three crew members who survived near Belitung waters. They were discovered by Tugboat Tunas SS which was sailing from Cilegon to Pontianak. The three crew members who were rescued were Suwandi (39), Juwair (60), and Sanen (39). Meanwhile, the two crew members who are still missing are Iyang (55) and Nur Jaya (22).
The accident started when KM Kencana Jaya, which is a fishing boat, was resting in the ocean. Several crew members were eating and sleeping when the tanker passed by and a collision occurred. It is suspected that the crew’s lack of understanding of the coordinates and shipping routes in the area was the cause of the accident.
After the rescue, TB Tunas SS, who found the three crew members, helped divert the route to Tanjung Pandan. However, due to logistical limitations, they asked for help from the Pangkalpinang SAR team for further evacuation. Basarnas’ RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) fast boat was deployed for the rescue process.
The evacuation was carried out last night, and the authorities are now coordinating with the relevant companies for the safe return of the crew members. Kansar Pangkalpinang has also reported this incident to Kansar Jakarta to track down the two crew members who are still missing, considering that the location of the incident is close to the Jakarta area. The exact cause of the accident and the shipping route are currently under investigation.
