Fire Hits Dozens of Lodgings at Emte Highland Resort Ciwidey, Losses Reach IDR 1 Billion

Dozens of accommodations at Emte Highland Resort, Ciwidey, Bandung Regency, West Java, were reported to have experienced fire incidents which resulted in losses estimated at IDR 1 billion.

Head of the Fire Section of the Bandung Regency Fire and Rescue Service, M Saepuloh, stated that the fire at Emte Highland Resort occurred on Monday (13/11/2023). “The affected objects are tourist attractions and a number of accommodations,” he said when confirmed on Monday.

Receiving the report, firefighters immediately responded to the incident. Saepuloh explained that 17 personnel with four fire fighting vehicles were deployed to extinguish the fire.

From initial data collection, the fire involved 13 executive accommodations, four family rooms, six standard rooms and one hall. The area affected is estimated at 1,015 square meters, with estimated losses reaching around one billion rupiah. Even though there was a fire, it managed to save around 60 building units.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but preliminary estimates suggest that the fire may have originated from an electrical short circuit. “Temporary suspicions indicate that the source of the fire came from an electrical short circuit,” said Saepuloh.

This incident marks a tragedy at Emte Highland Resort, and fire crews continue to struggle to extinguish the fire and identify the root cause of the fire.

Accident on Pakem Giriwoyo Wonogiri Bridge, Animal Feed Box Car Falls into a Ravine

Monday (11/13/2023) afternoon, the Pakem Giriwoyo Wonogiri Bridge witnessed an accident involving an animal feed box truck. This incident caused concern because the car rolled and fell into a ravine on the side of the road.

According to Kasihumas Wonogiri Police, AKP Anom Prabowo, the accident occurred on the south side of the Pakem Bridge. This incident involved a Mitsubishi truck with plate number AD 9831 BG driven by TR (30), a resident of Temboro Village, Karangtengah Wonogiri District, and a Toyota Avanza with plate number AD 1596 BX driven by RN (29), a resident of Pasar Kliwon Solo District.

At 16.10 WIB, the Avanza car stopped suddenly after the vehicle in front stopped suddenly. This condition means that the truck driver does not have enough time to press the brakes because of the heavy load being carried. In an effort to avoid a collision, the truck driver swerved to the left. However, to the left of the road there was a one meter high ravine, so the truck rolled into a resident’s yard with a load of chicken feed.

Before rolling, the truck hit the Avanza’s bumper and turn signal, causing damage to the vehicle. This case resulted in the driver of the truck suffering minor injuries. This incident is a lesson in the importance of being careful on the road and being prepared to face emergency situations. The exact cause of the accident is still being investigated further.

The robbery of a cellphone counter in Tarakan makes a splash on social media, the perpetrator manages to get away with money worth IDR 30 million

On Tuesday (7/11), a brutal robbery shocked Tarakan, where the perpetrator managed to make off with cash worth IDR 30 million from a cell phone counter on Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro, Sebengkok Village. This incident went viral on social media because it was clearly recorded by the CCTV camera at the location.

The tragic incident occurred at around 20.30 WITA, when the perpetrator suddenly appeared at the cellphone counter and quickly threatened the counter guard using a sharp weapon. In a short but shocking action, the perpetrator managed to take all the money stored in the cashier.

The counter owner, Sukri, who is the owner of the Efata counter, stated that the money stolen was the result of a full day’s income. His party has immediately reported this incident to the Tarakan Police, hoping that the perpetrator can soon be arrested and brought to justice. Sukri also revealed that this was not the first time this kind of attack had occurred, and that his party had become a similar victim at other counters.

Tarakan Police Chief, AKBP Ronaldo Maradona, explained that the police had received a report from the owner of the Efata counter. From the existing CCTV footage, it can be seen that the perpetrator was wearing a blue helmet and mask, making it difficult to identify his face. However, although facial details are not visible, police believe that the perpetrator can be identified based on body posture and other physical characteristics.

Even though similar incidents have occurred before, the Police Chief is still unable to confirm whether the same perpetrator was involved. The modus operandi used by the perpetrator this time appears to be similar to previous incidents, and the police are currently conducting an in-depth investigation. In efforts to uncover this case, obstacles arose due to the blurry quality of the CCTV footage and the lack of supporting witnesses.

This situation shows the challenges faced by the authorities in uncovering criminal acts in the technological era. In the hope that the perpetrator can be caught soon, the public and business owners in Tarakan are reminded to increase security and be alert to the potential for similar criminal acts.

Antiques warehouse catches fire in West Pekalongan, caused by burning rubbish

A dramatic story occurred in Medono, West Pekalongan District, when a warehouse used to store wooden antiques was completely destroyed by a red rooster. The warehouse owned by Haji Fauzi Hidayat (43), a resident of Kauman, Pekalongan City, became the center of attention when the fire broke out without leaving any casualties.

This incident occurred in the middle of a densely populated residential area, creating momentary panic among local residents. Despite this, Pekalongan City firefighters appeared alert and managed to contain the fire by deploying three fire brigades.

Muhammad Iwan, a resident witness, described the start of the fire. The fire is thought to have started from behind the warehouse and quickly spread to the pile of wood, causing the fire to grow bigger. Iwan suspects that the spark initially came from burning rubbish.

“At that time, I had just arrived home, then felt there was a lot of burning dust flying, then I went upstairs and saw the fire was already burning,” he explained.

Luck appeared when firefighters immediately contained the fire as quickly as possible, preventing it from spreading to other settlements. The fire that occurred at 17.30 WIB was successfully extinguished and the cooling process was carried out at 18.30 WIB.

West Pekalongan Police Chief, Commissioner Siwanto, stated that the cause of the fire was still under investigation. Even though the warehouse was empty at the time of the incident, the owner indicated that a guard should have been inside.

“Yes, that’s right, there was a fire in the form of an antiques warehouse, wood was burned, we are still investigating the damage, including the cause of the fire. There were no casualties in the fire. The owner said, actually there was a guard living there, but it was empty. Later. “We’re asking for information,” said Siwanto.

The story of the fire in this antiques warehouse is a lesson in the importance of vigilance and coordination between residents and firefighters in dealing with emergency situations.

Jambi Umrah Pilgrims Abandoned in Jeddah because of Irresponsible Travel Owners

A total of 42 Umrah pilgrims from Jambi experienced a heartbreaking story when they were stranded in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, due to the negligence of the Umrah travel owner PT Miftah Safari Internusa (MSI). The congregation was allegedly abandoned because the owner of PT MSI was not responsible for buying tickets to return home, even though all the pilgrims’ travel expenses from Jambi had been paid to the owner of PT MSI.

This uncertainty has been felt since the Umrah departure on October 22 2023. On October 20, the MSI Jambi agent had not received clarity on the departure to Saudi Arabia.

“I spent almost IDR 400 million. So, after I pressed the owner, he finally gave IDR 70 million to buy tickets, he promised to be responsible for our return tickets and reimburse my funds for departure,” he said.

While in Saudi Arabia, all pilgrims can worship smoothly and receive accommodation, transportation and food services as expected in Mecca or Medina.

Seeing that the congregation was waiting too long, the MSI Jambi agent, Habib, then bought tickets for the congregation to return using his personal funds again. As many as 27 pilgrims have booked flight tickets for Jeddah-Jakarta, while for 15 other congregations, Habib is still trying to purchase tickets.

This condition attracted the attention of the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah, who promised to coordinate with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia to provide tickets for the congregation to return home. Meanwhile, the owner of PT MSI, when confirmed, did not provide an answer or response to the situation experienced by the congregation.
