  1. After the Kanjuruhan Tragedy, Here’s a Request from Non-Bank OJK Bosses to the Insurance Industry in Bali

Bisnis.com, BADUNG – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) encourages insurance companies to proactively make products that are easier to reach, learning from the Kanjuruhan tragedy, Malang, which resulted in the death of 132 people .

Ogi Prastomiyono, Chief Executive of the Non-Bank Financial Industry Supervisory Financial Services Authority (IKNB OJK) said that based on the data collected, from the tragedy that caused 132 supporters to be injured and hundreds of others to receive medical treatment, the insured was very small.

“Associations can contribute to making products for big events [including football matches] to athletes,” said Ogi at the opening of the 26th Indonesia Rendezvous in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali, Thursday (13/102022).

Ogi also said that he had communicated with the Head of State regarding the lack of insurance in events involving crowds such as this football match.

Therefore, Ogi encourages insurance companies to prepare products that are easier to reach for athletes, event organizers and spectators.

“We recommend to President [Joko Widodo] that all aspects of big events take into account risk and involve insurance,” he said.

AAUI Chairperson Hastanto Sri Margi Widodo said that currently there are personal accident insurance products that involve large events. “Maybe after the pandemic, many forgot [to take into account risk factors],” he recalled.

Widodo said, in the tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, very minimal claims made to insurance companies. Therefore, he said that he would encourage association members to reactivate marketing as suggested by the OJK.

  1. In Indonesia, the 26th Rendezvous Chairman of Kadin Asks OJK to Review Vehicle Insurance Rates

Bisnis.com, BADUNG – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has asked the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to review the motor vehicle insurance premium rate policy.

Presented at the opening of the 26th Indonesia Rendezvous, in Badung, Bali, Thursday (13/10/2022), General Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Arsjad Rasjid, said that since OJK has regulated motor vehicle and property insurance premium rates, this rule has never been reviewed again. In Business records, the latest premium rate rules were set in 2017.

“The tariff for motorized vehicles has not been changed for a long time,” said Arsjad Rasjid.

According to this figure who is also the President Director of Indika Energy (INDY), tariff adjustments are not only a matter of the interests of the industry but also insurance consumers to get their rights fairly.

“We hope that OJK together with the industry, together ensure that consumers get their rights, the insurance industry will also get their rights,” he said.

Ogi Prastomiyono, Chief Executive of the Non-Bank Financial Industry Supervisory Financial Services Authority (IKNB OJK) in a doorstop interview session explained that vehicle insurance rates basically have two approaches.

On the one hand, there is a market mechanism approach. Regulators do not need to set the premium set. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the regulator provides a range of premiums so as not to cause a price war that will eventually damage the industry.

“We’ll think about which one is the best,” he said.

Meanwhile, on a different occasion, the Executive Director of the Indonesian General Insurance Association (AAUI) Bern Dwiyanto stated that his party was waiting for the regulator’s policy to regulate the tariffs for this automotive and property insurance.

However, Bern said the 26th Indonesia Rendezvous presented the insurance industry from Japan as a benchmark. In Japan, he said, insurance rates are set by a rating agency that is separate from the industry.

With this rating approach, the insurance industry in Japan sets rates based on fair data produced by rating companies.

He also mentioned that since the tariff rules were first set up until now, they have not been revised. He hopes that with a data approach, it is necessary to make current adjustments to this vehicle insurance product.

Regulations related to the rates of loss and vehicle insurance business lines were last updated in the Circular Letter of the Financial Services Authority No. 6/SEOJK.05/2017 concerning Determination of Premium Rates or Contributions in the 2017 Property Insurance and Motor Vehicle Insurance Business Lines

  1. Preparing to Face Recession, Society Assessed Need for Insurance Fund

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – AXA Financial Indonesia said, insurance is a financial support service (financial support). Thus, insurance companies should view a recession as an opportunity.

AXA Financial Indonesia Chief Financial Officer Bukit Rahardjo said that once there was a recession, the insurance company’s position should be stronger.

“However, literacy and education must be strong. If (financial planning) there are pockets for operational funds, savings savings funds, there should be insurance funds,” he said during a media visit at Kompas.com, Wednesday (10/12/2022) .

However, he added, currently most people are just starting to think about insurance funds when the risk will occur.

Hill said, insurance funds need to be considered by the community. The reason is, without having insurance funds there is a possibility that other expenditure posts will be disrupted.

“For example, if there is no insurance fund, if there is anything, he will take it from a savings fund. Not many people understand this simple literacy,” he added.

Bukit said, many people still think by buying insurance products, the funds paid have been lost. In fact, these funds are available for protection.

“That is called financial support,” he said. In the future, AXA Financial Indonesia will try to be relevant to the recession. “In a recession we are relevant, we will be able to face the difficulties,” he added.

Bukit detailed, AXA Financial Indonesia in 2021 recorded premium income from health insurance contributing 47 percent of the total premium. The composition of health insurance is relevant to the current situation because this product is a type of insurance that can benefit directly in difficult times.

“With education, hopefully more people will be aware, oh, we need one more fund, namely insurance funds,” he said.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The high intensity of rain that occurs in Indonesia has an impact on the emergence of high puddles. Anticipation is needed to deal with this, because flooding will haunt car users.

But when you face an unexpected situation on the road, especially regarding puddles, don’t be desperate to hit a flooded road. Because this will make it difficult when making insurance claims.

You need to know, insurance claims due to flooding are not automatically granted. Claims can be made if you have extended flood coverage or extended additional benefits contained in the hurricane, storm, hail, flood and or landslide clauses.

Here are 4 tips from Auto2000 when going to make an insurance claim:

  1. Contact the Insurance

The first thing to do is contact the insurance company. The sooner you coordinate with the insurance company, the faster it can be handled. Maximum 3×24 hours to make an insurance claim.

Now contacting the insurance can also be done as a preventive measure, for example when a car is caught in a flood. In this condition, the insurance company may have a service for pick-up or help through flood roads, such as towing or other.

  1. Prepare Evidence

You need to do this documentation will be evidence that the damage or loss, not because it was planned, or in the case of flooding does not indicate that you forced your way through the flood.

When it comes to accidents, the evidence attached is photos of the damaged parts of the vehicle. Meanwhile, to lose, you can use CCTV.

  1. Explaining the Chronology

You can clearly and in detail explain related to the chronology of events, which resulted in the car being damaged. Explain calmly and don’t be complicated, to make it easier for the insurance company to understand.

  1. Complete the Insurance Claim Requirements

And what is important for you to do is complete the insurance claim requirements. Starting from the insurance policy, driver’s license, vehicle registration, chronology records that have been made.

“Cars are damaged due to flooding is something you don’t want, because it can interfere with mobility. So it’s better to start making preparations, starting from checking the insurance policy whether there is an expansion of flood coverage, then periodically monitoring weather conditions and news, before traveling, “explained Nur Imansyah Tara, Aftersales Business Division Head Auto2000, Friday (7/10/2022) .
