Fire During Construction of the Pakuwon City Mall Surabaya Apartment. Floors 5-12 were engulfed in flames

On Wednesday, February 21 2024, the Pakuwon City Mall Apartment construction project on Jalan Raya Laguna Kejawaan Putih Tambak, Mulyorejo, Surabaya, experienced a disturbing incident. At around 8.34 WIB, a fire broke out in a building under construction, which was expected to become a skyscraper in the East Surabaya area.

The fire damaged parts of the building from the 5th floor to the 12th floor. The fire department from the Surabaya City Government was deployed with 20 fire engines to extinguish the fire. Due to its high location, firefighters must use the Bronto sky lift to reach high fire spots.

Luckily, there were no casualties in this incident. Mulyorejo Police Chief, Commissioner Sugeng Riyanto, stated that the fire first appeared on the 6th floor and then spread to the 5th floor, and spread to floors 7 to 12.

When the fire broke out, several workers were still on the ground floor busy working. They realized what had happened when smoke began to rise high into the sky.

It is currently suspected that the cause of the fire was a short circuit in the electrical panel. After three hours of fighting, the fire was finally extinguished.

The temperature at the fire location reached 50 degrees Celsius, so the Surabaya Fire and Rescue Service (DPKP) had to deploy around 120 officers who took turns entering the building to extinguish the fire and carry out rescues.
