On Friday (5/1/2024) morning, a fatal accident occurred between the Turangga and Local Bandung Raya trains in Cikuya District, Cicalengka, Bandung Regency. This accident claimed the lives of 4 people and dozens of others were injured. This tragic incident was in the spotlight because it involved two trains moving in opposite directions.
The chronology of the incident began when the Turangga Train was moving from Surabaya Gubeng to Bandung, while in the opposite direction, the Bandung Raya Commuterline was moving from Padalarang to Cicalengka. A violent collision occurred on the Cicalengka-Haurpugur KM 181+700 route, causing 3 Commuterline carriages and 8 Turangga train carriages to derail.
A passenger who survived, Heri Aliyudin, said that the situation was full of panic, and many passengers were thrown because they were still asleep. Currently, the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, but preliminary suspicions point to the possibility that there was an obstruction in the communication line between the two trains, so that the driver could not see and communicate.
Four train officers were killed, including the driver, assistant driver, steward and a security guard. Meanwhile, the surviving passengers have been evacuated and given treatment. The list of names of injured victims covers various regions, including Tasikmalaya, Cirebon and Pekanbaru.
PT KAI apologized for the disruption of services and is currently trying to evacuate and repair the damaged rail line. Efforts were made to engineer the operation pattern to detour the train journey, while the injured victims were treated at several nearby hospitals.

Accident of a truck carrying ballot papers that falls into a ravine in the Jambu area, Semarang Regency
A dramatic incident occurred in the Jambu area, Semarang Regency, when one of the two trucks carrying ballot papers for electoral districts 1 and 6 of Magelang Regency had an accident. The chairman of the Magelang Regency KPU, Afiffudin, stated that the truck overturned and almost fell into a ravine.
In a critical situation, the Brimob member who was tasked with guarding the truck acted quickly by jumping from the truck which was almost falling into a ravine. Although the truck driver tried his best to control the vehicle, his efforts were fruitless, causing the vehicle to fall into a ravine.

However, the impact of this incident was felt. Ballot papers for electoral districts 1 and 6, with a total of around 370,000 pieces, were delayed in delivery.
