Coffee Shop Fire at Bogor Junction Mall: Allegedly Due to Electrical Short Circuit

Bogor, July 30 2024 – A fire broke out at a coffee shop located inside the Bogor Junction Mall, Jl Jendral Sudirman, Bogor Tengah, Bogor City, at dawn this morning. This fire is thought to have been caused by an electrical short circuit in one of the devices at the coffee shop counter.

“The initial suspicion was that it was due to an electrical short circuit from one of the tools at the coffee shop counter. Coincidentally, there were flammable tools and materials there,” said Regional Manager of the Bogor Yogya Junction Area, Endang Yudi, on Tuesday (30/7/ 2024).

Endang explained that the large number of flammable materials in coffee shops, such as coffee cups made of paper and plastic, caused the fire to spread quickly. However, thanks to the quick actions of officers, the fire was successfully localized so that it did not spread to other tenants or counters in the vicinity.

“There were also coffee cups made of paper, then there were plastics, maybe that accelerated the spread of the fire. But thank God it was quickly localized so the fire didn’t spread to the neighboring tenants. The tenants on the right and left are still safe,” said Endang.

Previously, the Bogor City Fire Department reported that one of the coffee shops inside the mall building on Jl Jendral Sudirman, Central Bogor, Bogor City, experienced a fire. As a result of this incident, a security guard was rushed to hospital because he was experiencing shortness of breath.

“Information about the fire at the Fore coffee shop kiosk at Bogor Junction Mall, Jalan Sudirman, Central Bogor,” said M Ade Nugraha, Head of Firefighting and Rescue of the Bogor City Fire Department, Tuesday (31/7).

Ade added that his party could not confirm the exact cause of the fire and handed over the investigation to the police. To date, no fatalities have been reported as a result of the incident.

“There were zero fatalities or injuries. Only one security guard was rushed to Salak Hospital with shortness of breath,” explained Ade.

“The cause of the fire is not yet known for certain. The police are still investigating,” he added.

Kendari, July 27 2024 – A worker at PT Obsidian Stainless Steel (OSS), Junaedi, suffered a serious work accident on Friday night (26/7/2024). As a result of this incident, Junaedi’s left hand was severed in an accident that occurred at the last exhaust section of furnace number 5.

According to information from the Secretary of the Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the Federation of Indonesian Workers’ Unions (FKSPN) for the Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) region, Jhonal Prayogo, the accident occurred at around 22.40 WITA when Junaedi, who was a furnace crew member, was cleaning the inside of the cannon machine.

“The victim was cleaning the inside of the cannon. Suddenly, the victim’s partner opened the air valve which made the cannon move by itself. “This caused the victim’s hand to be trapped in the cannon,” said Jhonal Prayogo on Saturday (27/7/2024).

As a result of this incident, Junaedi’s left hand suffered a fracture. Shortly after the incident, Junaedi was immediately evacuated to the PT OSS clinic and then referred to Bahteramas Kendari Hospital for further medical treatment.

Indonesian Cargo Ship Stuck on Beach Jialutang as Typhoon Gaemi Approaches

Pingtung, Taiwan, July 25, 2024 – Indonesian cargo ship named Iriana experienced a grounding incident on the beach Jialutang, Pingtung County, Taiwan on Thursday evening. The incident occurred as Typhoon Gaemi approached the region, adding to the challenges for sailing ships.

Boat Iriana experienced problems an hour after departure from port at 10 p.m. Even though the ship was stranded near the coast Jialutang, all 20 crew members were reported to be safe and did not require any assistance. Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration (CGA) ensures that there is no risk of fuel leaking into the sea or loss of ship engine power.

“We continue to monitor developments and the situation of this ship running aground,” said a CGA representative. Boat Iriana previously anchored off Taiwan’s southwest coast on Wednesday afternoon to carry out rudder repairs. After repairs were completed, the ship continued its journey and experienced a grounding incident.

Although the situation raised concerns due to the severe weather caused by Typhoon Gaemi, CGA’s quick action and emergency response preparedness helped control the situation without causing major losses or environmental threats.

Photos of ships Iriana who was trapped on the beach Jialutang has been widely circulated, illustrating the ship’s proximity to land and how critical the situation is. However, thanks to CGA’s swift efforts, no serious impact resulted from this incident.

CGA continues to monitor conditions around the incident location to ensure the safety of the ship and the surrounding environment. This incident underscores the importance of vigilance and readiness to face extreme weather conditions, especially for ships operating in the waters around Taiwan.
