- This plane is stuck in a high-voltage power cable, 2 people are trapped
WASHINGTON – A small plane crashed and became entangled in a high-voltage power line about 30 miles north of Washington, DC, United States (US), on Sunday.
Two people who boarded the plane were found to be safe, but trapped in the plane.
The incident led to a mass power outage, in which rescue services worked into the night to save the two people on board.
The plane hit a power line around 5:30 p.m. in foggy and wet conditions in Montgomery Village, Maryland. This was conveyed by the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.
The plane became trapped in active power lines about 100 feet off the ground.
Pepco, a Washington-area utility company, said the accident cut power to more than 120,000 customers. Roads were also closed and many traffic lights in the local area were out.
Fire officials said two people on board were alive but trapped inside.
Scott Goldstein, the Montgomery County Fire Chief, said rescue workers were in contact with both people who were on board the plane without detailing their condition.
“There is no other way to determine if it is safe to access the tower until it is grounded, meaning the crew has to climb onto the cables themselves to apply clamps and wire-to-cable to ensure there is no static electricity,” Goldstein told reporters, as quoted by Reuters, Monday (11/28/2022).
Goldstein said the plane also needed to be secured to an electric tower before the passengers could be transferred. He said an unusually large crane provided by a local company was on site, in addition to a power tower specialist who would handle large towerbucket truck.According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Mooney M20J aircraft flew from Westchester, New York, and was scheduled to land at Montgomery Airpark, near the crash site.

- Floods Landa Banyuwangi, 2 Houses Collapsed and 886 Heads of Affected Families
BANYUWANGI, KOMPAS.com – A number of areas were flooded after heavy rains flushed the Banyuwangi area, East Java, on Monday (28/11/2022) evening.
Not only in Pesanggaran District and Kalibaru District, the flood also submerged hundreds of residents’ houses in the Banyuwangi District area, Banyuwangi Regency.
Hundreds of residents’ houses are scattered in five sub-districts. Among them, Panderejo Village, Mandar Village, Tukangkayu Village, Tamanbaru Village, and Kepatihan Village.
The five sub-districts were submerged by floods of around 80 cm to 1.5 meters. The water only receded several hours after the flood hit the five sub-districts.
The Banyuwangi Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that there were 886 heads of families (KK) affected by the floods.
Banyuwangi BPBD secretary Mujito detailed that the most severe impacts occurred in the Kepatihan Village with 762 families and 60 in the Tukangkayu Village.
“The remaining 64 affected households are in the Panderejo Village,” said Mujito, Tuesday (29/11/2022). The flood also collapsed two houses in the Kepatihan Village. The house is close to the overflowing Kali Lo River.

- Blitar Kesamben Market Burns, Hundreds of Stalls and Scorched Kiosks
BLITAR, KOMPAS.com – The Kesamben Main Market in Kesamben District, Blitar Regency, East Java, caught fire on Sunday (27/11/2022) evening.
The fire, which was first noticed at around 19.30 WIB, scorched almost the entire market building which consisted of hundreds of stalls and stalls. There were no injuries or fatalities in the incident.
Head of the Blitar Regency Fire Unit Teddy Prasojo said that the fire was only completely extinguished at around 4.30 WIB, Monday (28/11/2022). The blackout process lasted about 8 hours from 20.15 WIB.
“The fire was just about to be completely extinguished. This morning, around 4.30 WIB,” Teddy said when confirmed by Kompas.com, Monday.
Teddy said the extinguishing process was carried out by deploying 11 units of fire trucks and 6 units of water supply tank cars. However, the fire continued to spread until it burned down all the stalls in the market area.
According to Teddy, the stalls in the market area use flammable wood construction. In addition, the use of tarpaulin material also makes extinguishing efforts more difficult.
Teddy said that a total of 260 stalls, 49 stalls and 50 semi-permanent stalls were sold out by fire. “The obstacle we face is a lack of water supply. Indeed there are 6 units of water supply tanks, but there are 11 units of fire trucks operating,” he explained.
Teddy said that the 11 fire engines could not work optimally because the water supply continued to be late. He said, if there were only two hydrants in the vicinity, then the delay in water supply could be overcome. Teddy confirmed that there was a river which was only about 10 meters from the location of the fire. However, access to the river is limited, so the tankers have to take turns filling the river with water.
The 11 fire trucks consist of 2 units belonging to Blitar Regency, 3 units belonging to Blitar City, 1 unit belonging to Malang Regency, 3 units belonging to Kediri Regency and City, and 2 units belonging to Tulungagung Regency. Apart from that, a water cannon car belonging to the Blitar City Police was also deployed.
Until now, the cause of the fire at the market which is located about 25 kilometers from Blitar city to the east is not yet known.
